General Summary:  The Systems Trainer is responsible for training, developing, implementing, and evaluating employee development plans and programs to support the organizational needs of the firm.  This position may work in partnership with the firm’s outsourced legal based training firm and will assist the flow of information, meeting coordination, and training needs between Susman Godfrey and the training firm.  This position is also responsible for providing advanced end user troubleshooting of Word, Adobe, Excel and PowerPoint.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of training programs according to system and organizational needs.
  • Prepare training material (presentations, worksheets, videos, etc.) and training rooms if applicable
  • Execute training sessions, webinars, in person sessions in groups or individually
  • Maintain the history and report data on completed courses
  • Observe and evaluate results of training programs
  • Determine overall effectiveness of programs through testing and surveys and make necessary improvements
  • Consistently enhance instructional delivery and presentation skills
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of course content throughout a course life cycle in coordination with the firms outsourced training firm.
  • Assist with End User Support (Helpdesk) to all users in all offices on software applications used in firm

 

  • Coordinate and conduct “New Hire Training” for all users joining the firm; including work with firm’s recruiting coordinator and HR department to organize the Summer and Fall Associate training program schedules each year

 

  • Design and develop Quick Reference Cards with detailed step-by-step instructions and graphic images on the various applications used in the firm; create a “Tip of the Week” distributed electronically to all users
  • Assist with software installations/troubleshooting
  • Manage and maintain the firm’s LegalMind learning management system
  • Participate in on-call rotation with other members in IT Department
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • At least 5 years law firm help desk/training experience

 

  • Knowledge and advanced experience supporting and troubleshooting:
    • MS Office Suite to include some experience with MS Access
    • Adobe DC
    • iManage
    • Payne/Litera/Bighand Product Suite
    • Best Authority
    • A thorough understanding of Word styles, Table of Authorities, Citations, and Table of Contents
    • Other applications as necessary

 

  • Proven experience designing and delivering professional training documentation

 

  • Experience in training new hires

 

  • Experience training groups of users on firm applications

 

  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and can manage a heavy workload

 

  • Must have a solid command of the English language and be able speak clearly and concisely

 

  • Able to travel to remote offices on occasion

 

  • Able to work overtime when needed
