Defense Litigation Paralegal – DOWNTOWN- ONSITE

A growing boutique litigation and trial law firm located in downtown Houston is seeking a sharp, self-driven Paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced, courtroom-centric environment. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in all phases of litigation and trial preparation. The Paralegal will serve as an integral member of the legal team and a trusted resource that attorneys rely on throughout the lifecycle of complex matters.

Key Responsibilities
• Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and correspondence
• Manage and organize case files using the firm’s document management system
• Coordinate and track litigation deadlines across multiple active matters utilizing the firm's calendaring system
• Assist with e-discovery production, including collection coordination, document review support, Bates-stamping, privilege log preparation, and production packaging
• Prepare and index deposition, hearing, and trial exhibits
• Assist with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation, including exhibit binders, witness files, and demonstrative aids
• Support attorneys during hearings and trials as needed
• Coordinate logistics for out-of-town hearings, depositions, and trials, including travel arrangements and reserving meeting spaces
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, courts, and vendors
• E-file documents in state and federal courts in compliance with local rules
• Maintain accurate billable time records with detailed narrative entries supporting client invoicing

Qualifications

Required
• 2+ years of experience in a litigation law firm
• Paralegal certificate, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professional demeanor and presentation
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with eFileTexas and/or federal court filing systems
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with composure and precision

• Assisting legal assistants with preparation, review and administrative oversight of construction contracts and client projects 
• Managing work related to property conveyances and acquisitions 
• Facilitating work on matters related to state regulatory agencies and compliance for Firm clients 
• Assisting with client financing instruments and related documents 
• Scanning and filing various legal documents 
• Assisting legal assistants with client meetings to include preparation and follow-up tasks 
• Drafting correspondence 
Required Qualifications 
• College Degree 
• 2+ years experience with digital file management systems 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
• Working knowledge of Adobe and DropBox 
• Preferred Qualifications 
• Previous law firm experience 
• Knowledge of legal terminology 
• Experience with SharePoint or similar web-based file sharing programs • Experience working with data and records management storage companies • Experience using billing software 
• Working knowledge of NetDocuments, OneDrive, or similar web-based filing system paper files.
