Defense Litigation Paralegal – DOWNTOWN- ONSITE

A growing boutique litigation and trial law firm located in downtown Houston is seeking a sharp, self-driven Paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced, courtroom-centric environment. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in all phases of litigation and trial preparation. The Paralegal will serve as an integral member of the legal team and a trusted resource that attorneys rely on throughout the lifecycle of complex matters.

Key Responsibilities
• Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and correspondence
• Manage and organize case files using the firm’s document management system
• Coordinate and track litigation deadlines across multiple active matters utilizing the firm's calendaring system
• Assist with e-discovery production, including collection coordination, document review support, Bates-stamping, privilege log preparation, and production packaging
• Prepare and index deposition, hearing, and trial exhibits
• Assist with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation, including exhibit binders, witness files, and demonstrative aids
• Support attorneys during hearings and trials as needed
• Coordinate logistics for out-of-town hearings, depositions, and trials, including travel arrangements and reserving meeting spaces
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, courts, and vendors
• E-file documents in state and federal courts in compliance with local rules
• Maintain accurate billable time records with detailed narrative entries supporting client invoicing

Qualifications

Required
• 2+ years of experience in a litigation law firm
• Paralegal certificate, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professional demeanor and presentation
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with eFileTexas and/or federal court filing systems
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with composure and precision

This attorney will serve as a key legal advisor and business partner, working closely with the Chief Legal Officer and executive leadership team to support a growing, vertically integrated organization. The role will provide broad exposure to commercial transactions, real estate matters, corporate initiatives, operational support, and regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, equipment leases, transportation agreements, and service agreements.
  • Support business growth initiatives, acquisitions, strategic projects, and corporate transactions.
  • Handle real estate matters including acquisitions, leasing, easements, development agreements, and land-related transactions.
  • Assist with corporate governance, compliance initiatives, and legal guidance for operational teams.

  • Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with active bar membership.
  • 6+ years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house environment.
  • Strong commercial contracting and negotiation experience.
  • Experience with real estate transactions, leasing, and development matters.
  • Experience supporting industries such as construction, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, energy, infrastructure, mining, aggregates, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong judgment, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

• Assisting legal assistants with preparation, review and administrative oversight of construction contracts and client projects 
• Managing work related to property conveyances and acquisitions 
• Facilitating work on matters related to state regulatory agencies and compliance for Firm clients 
• Assisting with client financing instruments and related documents 
• Scanning and filing various legal documents 
• Assisting legal assistants with client meetings to include preparation and follow-up tasks 
• Drafting correspondence 
Required Qualifications

• 2+ years experience with digital file management systems 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
