The Senior Counsel, Regulatory and Compliance reports to the Deputy General Counsel – Litigation, Employment, Environmental & Regulatory will collaborate with colleagues across a large corporate law department in a publicly traded, international energy company.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Providing legal counsel, advice, and support to the economic/commercial aspects of FERC work such as tariff filings, abandonments, enforcement, compliance, and the management/lead on FERC rate cases
  • Driving and recommending course of action to Midstream Leadership
  • Providing legal counsel on day to day and complex FERC regulatory matters including advisory context, risk calibration/assessment and associated business impact
  • Providing regulatory guidance, support, and counsel for expanding global Commercial Trading operations
  • Providing legal counsel, advice and support to the Midstream operations business unit including PHMSA, compliance, investigations, and audits
  • Demonstrated ability to cost-effectively leverage and manage outside counsel resources
  • Providing advice and counsel to various business units on sanctions, antiboycott and trade compliance as well as work with the compliance function to design and conduct training on this subject matter    
  • Providing advice and counsel on FCPA and related issues as well as work with the compliance function to design and deliver FCPA training
  • Providing direction to management in the design, development and implementation of policies and procedures to respond to government initiatives for the purpose of proactively managing legal risk
  • Working collaboratively with Government Affairs and various business units on public policy issues and rulemakings
  • Provide general legal support and advice to Corporate Compliance function

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • A member in good standing of any U.S. bar
  • 6 or more years of regulatory and operational experience
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of time

  • Self-initiation on regular and complex assignments
  • Effective utilization and communication with internal support staff including assigned paralegal and administrative assistant
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
