Our client, a mid-size Texas based law firm is seeking an experienced real estate paralegal with 4+ years of experience to support the team with primarily residential real estate transactions. The lawyers serve major homebuilders in Houston and throughout Texas.
The position requires an individual able to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in real estate concepts and transactions. The position will be supported by an administrative staff member assigned to them and shared by other attorneys.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Real Estate (Specific Duties):
- Assist attorneys in title and survey review and prepare first drafts of title and survey objections
- Organize and coordinate property acquisition activities, including title clearance and maintaining contract critical dates and timelines
- Assist in drafting of purchase and sale agreements and residential real estate leases, amendments to leases and contracts and lease abstracts and contract summaries
- Order estimates of redemption, water certifications, zoning certifications, & property inspections.
- Review title reports, obtain payoff statements, and obtain clearance of all title issues.
- Recording of real estate and corporate documents through county and state e-file services
- Post-closing document control, UCCs, satisfactions and releases
- Prepare and organize closing binders
- Obtain recorded instruments from real property records in various jurisdictions
- Coordinate Exhibits and Schedule; prepare final forms of transaction documents
- Coordinate closings and signatures
- Closing Binders; oversee assistants in preparation closing binders
Key Qualifications
- Office Suite and Acrobat Adobe Pro proficiency
- Interwoven – IManage/FileSite/WorkSite and EDGAR experience preferred
Minimum software proficiencies
- Microsoft Word (expert level skills including: redlining, merging and comparing documents, etc.)
- Microsoft Outlook (expert level skills including: emails, group calendaring, etc.)
- Microsoft Excel (intermediate level skills required)
- Adobe Acrobat (expert level skills including: organizing indexed documents, converting between Word and pdf formats, editing/searching pdf’s, combining and splitting pdf’s, and handling pdf signature pages, etc.)
- Interwoven experience (good to expert level skills including searching, saving, naming, retrieving documents, etc.)
- Coyote experience a plus
- Westlaw (familiarity with basic Westlaw research for pulling statutes, cases and articles and conducting basic legal research)
