Director of Accounting – Austin – ONSITE
Reports To: Vice President of Accounting
Summary
- Director of Accounting to lead the core accounting function for a rapidly scaling data center platform. This role is ideal for a technically strong CPA with Big Four training who has transitioned into industry and thrives in complex, capital-intensive environments.
- The Director will own the monthly close process, technical accounting, internal controls, and ERP system optimization (NetSuite), while building scalable processes to support project-level and entity-level growth.
- This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational rigor and systems fluency.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Close & Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements (GAAP compliant)
- Oversee consolidation of multiple entities and project-level accounting
- Manage external audit process and coordinate with auditors
- Technical Accounting
- Research and document accounting positions for complex transactions
- Address revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), capitalization policies
- Support debt, equity, and project financing accounting
- Draft technical memos and accounting policies
- ERP & Systems Leadership (NetSuite)
- Serve as NetSuite functional lead
- Oversee system enhancements, workflows, and reporting optimization
- Troubleshoot technical accounting/system integration issues
- Partner with IT and external consultants on ERP improvements
- Controls & Process Development
- Design and implement scalable internal controls
- Build accounting policies and documentation framework
- Support SOX readiness
- Establish process discipline suitable for institutional investors
- Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop accounting team members
- Build scalable team structure aligned with growth
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement culture
Qualifications
CPA required
8–12+ years of accounting experience
Big Four public accounting experience required
Industry experience in power, data centers, infrastructure, energy, or technology
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting
Deep NetSuite experience required
Experience in capital-intensive or project-based businesses preferredStrong leadership and systems mindset
