Compliance Counsel – Houston

A highly regarded international law firm is seeking an experienced Compliance Counsel to join its Office of General Counsel. This role advises attorneys and firm leadership on conflicts of interest, client intake, legal ethics, and risk management matters while supporting the firm's compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Review and analyze conflicts of interest related to new clients, matters, and lateral attorney hires.
Advise attorneys and business professionals on conflicts, client acceptance, and professional responsibility issues.
Draft conflict waivers, ethical screens, and related documentation.
Support the client and matter intake process and maintain accurate conflicts records.
Partner with firm leadership to resolve complex conflicts and risk management issues.
Utilize conflicts management systems, including Intapp Open and Intapp Walls.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
5+ years of legal experience, preferably within a law firm, professional services, or in-house legal environment.
Prior conflicts, risk management, or professional responsibility experience in a large law firm strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of legal ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct.
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
