Billing Specialist – BIG law – hybrid schedule.
The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate invoices are issued on time. This role will bill on a monthly basis, make requested changes, and assist with the prompt distribution of final bills. The Billing Specialist may also work with the client’s accounting department to resolve billing issues or discrepancies and generate ad hoc reports when requested by an assistant or attorney.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Issue invoices to Billing Attorney for initial review on a monthly basis
- Edit draft invoices with guidance from the Billing Attorney and finalize for distribution
- Work with attorneys, assistants, and if necessary, client’s accounting department to resolve any billing inquiries
- Run accounts receivable reports to update Billing Attorney on outstanding Invoices
Minimum Requirements:
- Advanced computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel and billing software programs
- Able to handle multiple projects at a time and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
- Strong technology and office skills, and able to create, edit, and present complex data, analyses and ad hoc reports
- An aptitude for working with numbers
- Able to effectively and confidently interact and communicate with attorneys, assistants, and clients
- Detail-oriented with a customer service approach to problem-solving
- Able to anticipate work needs and organize workflow
- Follow through with minimal direction and follow up independently and on own initiative
- Multi-task, use time efficiently and perform professionally and at a high level under tight deadlines and in a fast paced, ever changing work environment, successfully prioritizing and adapting to changing demands
- Flexible to adjust to varied situations and possibly work weekends or evenings as needed
Education and Experience:
- Aderant, 3E, and other legal accounting software experience
- Hands on familiarity with multiple e-billing vendor systems and outside counsel guidelines
