Payroll & Benefits Manager (Onsite – Houston)
Not a plug-and-play payroll role.
This is for someone who wants full ownership—payroll, benefits, systems, and the ability to build something the right way.
We’re partnering with a growing company in Houston looking for a Payroll & Benefits Manager to take the lead on end-to-end payroll and benefits administration, while driving a UKG Ready implementation as the internal subject matter expert.
You’ll be the go-to for everything—ensuring payroll runs flawlessly, benefits are handled seamlessly, and processes are built to scale.
What You’ll Do
- Lead UKG Ready implementation (configuration, testing, go-live)
- Own full-cycle payroll (multi-state, non-exempt workforce)
- Manage payroll taxes, filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s)
- Oversee benefits programs, enrollment, and vendor relationships
- Partner directly with brokers and ensure compliance (ACA, COBRA, ERISA)
- Handle employee questions around pay and benefits (you are the point person)
- Identify gaps, fix inefficiencies, and improve processes
What They’re Looking For
- 5+ years of payroll experience
- 2+ years of UKG experience + implementation required
- Experience supporting a complex, non-exempt workforce
- Someone who takes ownership and doesn’t wait to be told what to fix
- Detail-oriented, but also able to see the bigger picture
