Desktop Technician – Downtown – FULL TIME – ONSITE

Position Summary

The Desktop Technician provides front-line technical support for end-users within the organization’s desktop computing environment. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading desktop hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and user satisfaction. The Desktop Technician serves as a key point of contact for resolving technical issues in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and remote support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues

  • Install, configure, test, monitor, and maintain end-user workstations and related equipment

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software problems

  • Perform workstation moves, adds, and changes as requested by IT leadership and office management

  • Collaborate with network analysts and IT managers to ensure efficient system operations

  • Maintain inventory of hardware and components, including monitors, keyboards, and storage devices

  • Accurately document installations, repairs, upgrades, and equipment failures

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers as needed

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend desktop hardware and software solutions

  • Assist with long-term desktop strategy, capacity planning, and performance reporting

  • Provide after-hours support as needed for scheduled maintenance or office moves

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with desktop hardware and peripherals

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and OEM documentation

  • Proficiency researching and resolving PC and operating system issues

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to explain technical issues in user-friendly terms

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or 3+ years of equivalent experience

  • Certifications preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Desktop Support certifications

  • Experience supporting Windows 10 and 11 environments

  • Strong knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware, internal components, and peripherals

  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience

  • Familiarity with common protocols and standards (TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP)

  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented IT environment
