Business Development & Marketing Manager
Houston, TX – Hybrid (3 Days in Office)
Our client, a global law firm with a highly respected Houston presence, is seeking an experienced and innovative Business Development & Marketing Manager to join their growing marketing and client development team. We have a strong, long-standing relationship with this firm and can speak confidently to the collaborative culture and exceptional leadership.
This role is ideal for a marketing professional with prior legal industry experience, especially someone who has executed events, sponsorships, conferences, client programs, and other activation initiatives. The ideal candidate moves quickly, brings creative ideas to the table, and thrives in an environment with shifting priorities and fast turnarounds.
This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the Houston office, with Wednesday serving as the marketing team’s anchor day. Occasional travel within North America is required for events throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Practice & Client Development

Partner with practice and industry group leaders to develop and implement marketing and business development strategies.

Identify new business opportunities through market research, analytics, and competitive intelligence.

Maintain and enhance BD infrastructure including collateral, matter lists, experience databases, contact lists, and opportunity tracking.

Track ROI of initiatives and support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

Assist with the integration of lateral attorneys into assigned groups.
Proposals & Pitches

Lead the development of RFPs, pitches, and strategic business development opportunities.

Draft tailored proposals and create compelling pitch materials.

Prepare pitch teams for presentations and manage post-pitch follow-up and debriefs.
Marketing, Events & Visibility

Manage submissions for rankings, awards, surveys, and league tables.

Plan and execute client programs, sponsored events, conferences, and other high-impact engagements.

Support thought leadership initiatives, including articles, media requests, and content development.

Coordinate attorney participation in professional organizations and industry groups.
Leadership & Team Oversight

Supervise and mentor junior BD and marketing team members.

Oversee workflow, quality standards, and daily operations.

Collaborate across practices, regions, and business functions.
Qualifications
Required
-
Minimum 8 years of marketing or business development experience.

Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.

Outstanding writing, editing, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Preferred

Experience with CRM or marketing technology platforms such as InterAction, Salesforce, or Foundation.

Familiarity with legal industry research tools, rankings, and publications.

Supervisory or project management experience.

Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or related field) is a strong plus.
